Show Duration: September 15 - October 15, 2018
Marco Chavarry's work is an exploration in balance and minimalism; he is constantly exploring the relationships of line quality and shape. After years of designing balanced and pleasing spaces, Marco began to explore creating visual work to compliment and complete those environments. Cultural iconography plays an important role in the work he is creating in this series. Heavily inspired by ancient pre-Columbian art, especially South American ceramics and textiles, Marco is also influenced by geometric abstraction and the minimalist movements of the 1950's and 60's.
Marco Chavarry is a self-taught Peruvian artist living in Chicago. As owner and curator of Alapash New Home, he found a passion for creating beautiful and interesting environments. It was Marco's work in design that led him to begin to explore his talents in visual art.
