SHIFTING DOMAIN
Through the language of architecture, building materials, and inhabited space, artists Nate Mathews and Ashley Morgan find meaning and wonder. Morgan redefines domestic space by manipulating the building materials which have come to define it. Mathews' photos reframe our understanding of institutional environments by contrasting their concrete monumentality with the serendipitous traces of people who interact with them.
Shifting Domain is the first of two exhibitions featuring artists selected by Manifold from the ACRE Residency Program.
ACRE (Artists' Cooperative Residency and Exhibition) was founded in 2010 with the ambition to provide the arts community with an affordable, cooperative, and dialogue-oriented residency program.
